Excellence is a commitment not a goal.

County Wide PBIS Work Continues

In Upshur County, teachers from all grade levels are collaborating to develop a comprehensive Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. A substantial group of teachers from across the county met on Monday, January 13th to build the positive behavior intervention support system. This initiative aims to create a positive school environment by promoting good behavior and academic success. The program focuses on consistent expectations, positive reinforcement, and data-driven decision-making. By working together, Upshur County educators are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.

LETRS

Recently, the WVDE partnered with LEXIA to provide LETRS training to any K-3 teacher and elementary principal who chooses to participate, free of charge. This robust two-year training commitment, which many Upshur County teachers and principals have already signed up for (enrollment remains open through March 31 for Cohort 2 of 3), will provide the extensive knowledge necessary to enhance reading instruction throughout the county.

Navigating Winter Weather: A Shoutout to Our Bus Operators

This past week, Upshur County Schools faced snowy roads and cold days. Our highly trained bus operators rose to the challenge, utilizing a variety of tools to tackle the winter weather effectively.

Drivers can chain the tires and use drop-down chains to increase traction, ensuring safe travel. They also coordinate closely with one another to pick up and deliver our students safely, no matter the conditions.

We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and expertise in keeping our students safe during these winter months. Thank you to all our bus operators for your hard work and commitment!
